The best of Alexandre Texier ... so far

Coming off an impressive cameo at the end of the 2018-19 season that included a pair of goals in the Blue Jackets' clinching Game 4 win over Tampa Bay in the playoffs, a lot was expected of Alexandre Texier this season.

But instead of entering a high-energy playoff push, Texier instead encountered the day-to-day grind of the NHL season for the first time. It didn't take him long, though, to find his rhythm.

Texier's season started on a high note when he had the overtime goal in the win over Buffalo in the team's third game of the season, but after a bit of a production slump, he found his game in December when he had three goals and nine points in a 13-game span as the Blue Jackets heated up.

Then came the unfortunate reality of injury, as Texier suffered a stress fracture in his back, leaving the Dec. 31 win over Florida and not returning.

The 20-year-old forward from France says he's feeling good now and hopes to use the upcoming series vs. Toronto to build on his six-goal, 13-point season in 36 games this year.

"I think (my season) was just OK, yeah," he said. "It can be better. I think (I can improve on) everything. Still young, still one more year to improve your game. I just want to be better. When I'm on the ice offensively and defensively, I want to get more physical on the ice, just try to get better on everything."

The Blue Jackets are scheduled to resume the season Sunday vs. Toronto in Game 1 of a five-game playoffs qualifying series, but for now, watch the video above for highlights from Texier's season.
