Here's a look at how Dallas Stars prospects playing at the 2017 World Junior Championship in Montreal and Toronto fared in Monday's quarterfinal round. Denis Gurianov (Russia), Frederik Karlstrom (Sweden), and Joe Cecconi (USA) all advanced to the semifinals.
Forward Denis Gurianov (Russia): Picked up one assist as Russia advanced to the semifinals with a 4-0 win over Denmark Monday. Gurianov assisted on Russia's third goal, driving the net off the rush, fanning on a shot and then Pavel Karnaukhov got the puck and scored to make it a 3-0 game. Gurianov, who played on Russia's second line, logged 16:23 of ice time and had two shots on goal. He has four points (one goal, three assists) in five games at the tournament.

Forward Fredrik Karlstrom (Sweden): Karlstrom scored one goal as Sweden routed Slovakia 8-3 in Monday's semifinal round. Karlstrom scored off a backhand shot from close range to put Sweden up 5-0 in the second period. Karlstrom was the 13th forward for Sweden in Monday's game and registered three shots on goal in 8:15 of ice time. He has three points (one goal, two assists) and a plus-three rating in five games.

Defenseman Joe Cecconi (United States): Cecconi had no points and was a plus-one in the USA's 3-2 win over Switzerland. Cecconi was the seventh defenseman for the United States and logged 13:36 of ice time. He has two assists and a plus-two rating in five games and is averaging 12:21 of ice time.

Defenseman Ondrej Vala (Czech Republic): Vala had no points and a minus-three rating in Czech Republic's 5-3 loss to Canada Monday. Vala played on Czech Republic's third defensive pair and played 18:29 in the game. He finished the tournament with no points in five games and averaged 14:56 of ice time per game.
