Veterans Appreciation Night

The Dallas Stars honored veterans of the military and their families

The Stars hosted their annual Veterans Appreciation Night presented by JW Logistics on Monday, March 20 against the San Jose Sharks. 

The Stars wore camouflage jerseys during warmups. The one-of-a-kind jerseys will be auctioned off at, with proceeds benefitting Defending The Blue Line.

James Wicker Sr., who served aboard the USS Corregidor aircraft carrier during WWII was the Hometown Hero of the game.

A member of 22 Kill, a veterans outreach and suicide prevention organization, rappelled from the rafters to deliver the ceremonial puck.

U.S. Army Sgt. Stephen Wayne Jackel, Jr. dropped the ceremonial puck with captains Jamie Benn and Joe Pavelski.

Rebuilding Warriors brought Patty, a Service K9, to the game and made a special enterance during the first intermission. 

Former Navy Seal Ryan Parrot and Rebuilding Warriors presented Patty to Cary Flatt, a US Army Special Forces Green Beret. 

Rebuilding Warriors is a non-profit organization with a mission to provide service K9s to honorably discharged veterans.
