Julius Honka, Johnny Oduya, Radek Faksa and Jason Spezza also scored for the Stars, who finished the preseason with a 4-3-0 record.

Los Angeles took the early lead, scoring on the power play when Michael Mersch tipped a Tyler Toffoli shot past Niemi 3:52 into the game. The Stars answered midway through the period with the two sides playing four-on-four. Nemeth tipped a shot on net and then got the rebound and put it past Kings goaltender Jeff Zatkoff at the 10:30 mark.

The Stars grabbed a 2-1 lead at 2:44 of the second with a highlight-reel goal by Honka, who put the puck between his legs to slip by one defender and then stickhandled his way down the slot before scoring from close range.

After Kings forward Dustin Brown tied the game at 2-2 later in the second, the Stars scored twice in 33 seconds to take a 4-2 lead. Oduya backhanded a Spezza pass into the net from close range at 11:43 of the second and then a Faksa pass attempt went into the net off Kings defenseman Alec Martinez at the 12:16 mark.

Kings forward Nic Dowd scored at 9:02 of the third to cut the Dallas lead to 4-3, but Nemeth made it a 5-3 game with a goal off the rush 15:17 into the third and Spezza sealed the win a late empty-net goal.
