FRISCO, Texas -- Dallas Stars President and CEO Brad Alberts announced today changes to the club's business operations.

Dan Stuchal has been promoted to Chief Communications Officer after previously serving as Senior Vice President of Marketing for the last three seasons. In his new role, Stuchal will now oversee the club's communications and broadcasting departments. Now in his 20th year as a member of the Stars organization, he began his career in the Minnesota North Stars communications department and moved to Dallas when the club relocated in 1993. Since that time, Stuchal has held numerous other roles within the organization, including Vice President of Brand Development and Broadcasting, Vice President of Business Development, Director of Hockey Administration and Director of Team Services. From 2003-13, he worked for Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star and rose to the position of Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
Joe Calvillo has been promoted to Director of Communications after previously serving as Corporate Communications Manager for the last seven seasons. Entering his 13th season with the Dallas Stars, he will oversee the communications department and serve as the primary contact for local and national media. During the 2014-15 and 2017-18 seasons, Calvillo and the department received the Dick Dillman Award, given annually to the team judged by the members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association (PHWA) to be the best in media relations. Calvillo came to the Stars organization after spending the 2009-10 season as a member of the San Antonio Spurs communications department. While in college at The University of Texas at Austin, he interned for four seasons (2005-09) with the Austin Spurs of the NBA G League while also working as a member of the communications game night staff for Spurs Sports & Entertainment.
John Sponslerhas been promoted to Director of Broadcasting after previously serving as Broadcast Manager for the last 10 seasons. In his new role, Sponsler will oversee the team's relationships with its broadcast partners, Bally Sports Southwest and Sportsradio 96.7 FM and 1310 The Ticket, along with broadcast talent. During his nearly two decades with the club, Sponsler has been a key part of the television production crew serving as the Associate Producer and Lead Replay Operator. Over his broadcasting career, he has worked Stanley Cup Finals, NBA Finals, Kentucky Derbys, NFL and MLB games and has been selected for four Olympic Games (2014, 2016, 2018, 2020). The winner of three regional Lone Star Emmys and two National Emmy awards, he graduated from the University of North Texas in 1999. Sponsler began his career with the Stars as an intern and joined the team in a full-time capacity during the 2003-04 season.
