New York outlasted the Toronto Maple Leafs in overtime, 2-1, in the first matchup of the season. Mika Zibanejad opened the scoring for the Rangers in the first period, their first goal in the first period this season. After Toronto evened things up in the second period, New York pushed the game to overtime where Artemi Panarin scored his first overtime goal as a Ranger. Igor Shesterkin was incredible in net, making 40 saves on 41 shots.

New York fell behind 2-0 at Scotiabank Arena before Dryden Hunt scored his first goal of the season, becoming the 15th different goal scorer for the Rangers this season. Notably, Artemi Panarin skated in his 450th career game while Filip Chytil skated in his 200th career game.

Chris Kreider - 21 GP, 5G-13A=18 PTS - Over his career, Kreider has points in 14 of 21 games against the Maple Leafs and has points in seven of his last nine games against Toronto (2G-8A). Kreider has recorded four multi-point games against Toronto.

THREE RANGERS SELECTED TO ASG
Forwards Chris Kreider, Mika Zibanejad and defenseman Adam Fox were selected to the 2022 NHL All-Star Game in Vegas. Zibanejad was selected as the "Last Man In" fan vote but will not be attending the game.
It is the 34th time in franchise history that the Rangers have had three or more players selected to the same All-Star Game and first since 2011-12 (Henrik Lundqvist, Dan Girardi, Marian Gaborik). Since 1976-77, New York has had three or more players selected to an All-Star Game nine times.
Fox will be making his first career ASG appearance and Kreider will be making his second career ASG appearance and second in three seasons.
