NASHVILLE -- Tanner Jeannot's first goal in 39 games broke a tie in the third period, and the Nashville Predators defeated the Winnipeg Jets 2-1 at Bridgestone Arena on Tuesday.

After Tommy Novak's shot attempt went off the end boards, Jeannot got the puck behind the net and scored on a wraparound at 5:38. It was his first goal since Oct. 27.
"It feels really good, a little bit of weight lifted off the shoulders," Jeannot said. "But my focus has been the same going into every game; it's doing everything I can to help the team win, and if I can do that in other ways other than scoring, I do my best to do that as well. But it's always nice to get on the board, and hopefully we can keep it going."
Cody Glass also scored, and Juuse Saros made 32 saves for the Predators (23-18-6), who have won four in a row at home, including a 5-3 victory against the Los Angeles Kings on Jan. 21.
"It's nice to see what our group looks like when we are playing the right way," Nashville coach John Hynes said. "We're in the position where we're continuing to fight for wins and move up in the standings, and I think if we continue to build on what we've built the last two games, we give ourselves a really good chance."

Pierre-Luc Dubois scored, and Connor Hellebuyck made 39 saves for the Jets (31-17-1), who won their previous two games and finished a five-game road trip 2-3-0.
"We played hard for the most part," Winnipeg coach Rick Bowness said. "We just let up when we shouldn't have, and they didn't. Their goalie made some huge saves for them, our goalie made some huge saves for us. It certainly wasn't a 2-1 game in terms of offensive opportunity for either team."
Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey kept it a one-goal game at 18:22 of the third when he blocked a shot by Mikael Granlund from the right face-off circle with the net empty.
Winnipeg then came close to tying it twice in the final minute when Mark Scheifele and Nikolaj Ehlers each hit the crossbar with 44 and 16 seconds remaining, respectively.
"We had our chances, they had theirs," Jets forward Cole Perfetti said. "You know, hit a couple of crossbars late and we created lots, had a lot of great chances. I think, a couple of self-inflicted wounds and things we'd like to clean up. We know we can do better, but I think all four lines worked really hard.
"That was a long road trip. I think the guys are really tired and battled through. I think we deserved a better outcome but, at the same time, their goalie played great. They played a good game. Yeah, it was a good hockey game."

WPG@NSH: Glass evens game in 2nd period

Dubois gave Winnipeg a 1-0 lead 48 seconds into the first period, scoring backdoor after receiving a cross-ice pass by Perfetti from the left circle.
"[Dylan DeMelo's pass] came off my skate a little awkward," Perfetti said. "Had to turn and grab it, and then just turn my head, I saw … [Dubois] going to the net, wide open at the backdoor there. I just kind of had to lead it a little bit into him. It ended up working out well."
Glass tied it 1-1 at 13:49 of the second period, redirecting a point shot by Roman Josi off an offensive-zone face-off. It was his career-high sixth goal of the season.
"Yeah, that was a good feeling," Glass said. "Playing with [Matt Duchene and Filip Forsberg], I probably should have had three or four tonight. But I was lucky to get the tying goal."

WPG@NSH: Dubois gives Jets lead in 1st period

Glass, who is a native of Winnipeg, got his first goal in three NHL games against the Jets.
"It's kind of that feeling of, 'I watched these guys growing up.' … [Some of] those guys were like my favorite players," Glass said. "So going against those guys kind of gives me that extra motivation to play harder."
