What is usually a wager between local leaders became an international affair when the Tampa Bay Lightning faced the Montreal Canadiens in the 2021 Stanley Cup Final.

And it wasn't
clear at the time
which food item exactly was on the line between U.S. President Joe Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, but now that the series is over with the Lightning emerging victorious, we now know a bunch of meat is headed south.
Trudeau announced on Twitter Friday that after he'd had some time to process the loss, he decided he will be sending one of Montreal's most iconic culinary delights, the smoked meat sandwich, to the White House.
"Alright, I've had some time to recover from the heartbreaking #StanleyCupFinal," he said in the tweet. "@POTUS, a bet's a bet. A package of Montreal smoked meat sandwiches is heading your way - enjoy! And congratulations to the @NHL champs, the @TBLightning."
Biden responded with a tweet of this own that said, "I know losing isn't easy, but thanks for following through with your end of the wager, @JustinTrudeau. And congrats again to the Tampa Bay Lightning on your second straight Stanley Cup. You made your country proud."
