Gruden Lightning Game 5

Jon Gruden gave Tampa Bay Lightning fans a power surge on Wednesday.

The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach fired up Lightning fans before Game 5 of the Eastern Conference First Round against the Montreal Canadiens at Benchmark International Arena.

Gruden sported a custom Lightning jersey as he lit the Tesla coils before puck drop.

“Bolts nation! Be the thunder,” Gruden yelled into the microphone after.

The former NFL head coach led the Buccaneers to their first Super Bowl championship in 2003.

In an interview with Sportsnet’s Kyle Bukauskas, Gruden put his coach’s hat back on and talked about the technicality of hockey.

“The strategy, the technical part is awesome,” Gruden said in a video posted by Sportsnet. “Hockey, as you know, there are so many peaks and valleys with power plays and penalties, you just got to keep your poise, you got to skate your butt off…effort, second chance plays are going to determine this game.”
