Carolina players acknowledge fans who made trip to see team clinch 1st championship in 20 years

It’s a celebration normally reserved for home ice, but, sure, there can be an exception for the Stanley Cup.

After clinching the Stanley Cup championship on Sunday at T-Mobile Arena, the Carolina Hurricanes brought their iconic Storm Surge celebration to Las Vegas to acknowledge the fans who made the trip west.

The Hurricanes took to center ice after completing the championship run with a 3-0 win over the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 6 and performed the Storm Surge, before coming together in a big group hug.

Carolina’s title is the first for the franchise since 2006. Brandon Bussi pitched the shutout with 22 saves. Jackson Blake had a goal and an assist, and Taylor Hall and Nikolaj Ehlers also scored for Carolina.

Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal earned the 2026 Conn Smythe Trophy after scoring eight goals and recording four assists throughout the playoffs, including goals in the first five games of the Stanley Cup Final.
