These dogs are pretty cool, and not just out on the ice.

The Edmonton Oilers had members of the Edmonton Police Service canine unit at their practice on Friday.

Tweet from @EdmontonOilers: We had some special guests from @EPSCanine drop by practice today as part of the #Oilers & @edmontonpolice partnership! pic.twitter.com/lkqQjnTXEB

Video shows one dog playing pretty good defense on a puckhandler despite not wearing skates, not having any useful equipment to use and while also being attached to a leash at one end.

Later in the video, one of the canines takes a kneeling player for a ride along the ice.

These dogs have their own trading cards and comic books so they were already stars when they walked in the building.

Tweet from @EPSCanine: #psdEvan wants more action. More pucks to the net. Thx for the open practice @EdmontonOilers. pic.twitter.com/ofMLD69FqH

They can now add hockey players to their list of talents.
