Reaves gets goal after telling O'Ree he would score for him

Ryan Reaves told everyone it was coming. Well, he actually told Willie O'Ree it was coming.

The Pittsburgh Penguins forward scored a pretty wrist shot to open the scoring against the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night. And the NHL's Diversity Ambassador told the crowd in attendance at PPG Paints Arena that Reaves said it was coming.
Earlier in day, Reaves met O'Ree for the first time at the team's morning skate. O'Ree, the first black player in NHL history who made his debut 60 years ago, helps lead Hockey Is For Everyone month each February, inspiring and educating at various stops around the league.
The Penguins shared a picture of the meeting.

With it came a promise. That Reaves would go out and play well and score. And he delivered early.
"I said I was going to have a good game for him, hopefully get him [a goal]," Reaves said. "With Willie O'Ree in the house, it's pretty special. He's a pioneer for players like me and it was nice getting a win... Somebody you look up to. Big in the NHL, big in sports, for players like me. So, it was really special."
