Paul Byron and Tomas Tatar scored in the first 1:41 of the third period to give the Montreal Canadiens a 3-2 win against the Ottawa Senators at Bell Center.
Byron tied the game 2-2 at 1:18 before Tatar gave Montreal the lead with his first goal for the Canadiens since being involved in the trade that sent Max Pacioretty to the Vegas Golden Knights. Brady Tkachuk scored his first professional goal 1:15 into the first period to give the Senators a 1-0 lead. Cody Ceci made it 2-0 with 2:19 left in the second period, before Nikita Scherbak got the Canadiens within 2-1 with 1:35 remaining. Carey Price made 16 saves for Montreal. Craig Anderson made 29 saves for Ottawa.
