Welcome to the NHL Status Report. Here is the latest lineup/injury news around the NHL.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Chris Tanev is week to week for the Maple Leafs because of an upper-body injury. The defenseman was placed on injured reserve Monday, retroactive to Oct. 10. He was injured during a 6-3 win against the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday and left the game at 11:08 of the first period. Tanev has one assist in six games this season and is tied for the team lead with 14 blocked shots. The Maple Leafs host the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday (7 p.m. ET; TSN4, MSG-B). "Tanev is a good player, that's well-established, but we have other good players," Maple Leafs coach Jim Hiller said. "We just have to help them out."

Ottawa Senators

Artem Zub will make his season debut for the Senators against the New York Islanders on Thursday (7 p.m. ET; RDS, TSN5, MSGSN). The defenseman had been sidelined with a knee injury sustained during the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season. ... Defenseman Jake Sanderson (lower body) is close to a return but will not play, coach Travis Green said. Sanderson was injured during the Senators' first game of the season. ... Ridly Greig is expected to play. The forward did not play the final 9:09 of a 7-2 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday because of a strain. ... William Eklund will be out 10-12 weeks after having surgery to repair a torn tendon in his ankle. The forward was injured during the first period of a 2-1 win against the Philadelphia Flyers on Oct. 8 after being hit awkwardly into the boards by Flyers defenseman Simon Benoit. Green said at the time of the injury that Eklund would be sidelined for an extended period of time and expected the 23-year-old to return sometime during the regular season.

Carolina Hurricanes

The upper-body injury Hurricanes forward Taylor Hall sustained in a 4-1 win against the Washington Capitals on Tuesday "doesn't look good," coach Rod Brind'Amour said. Hall left the game in the second period after playing 4:17. He has five points (three goals, two assists) in eight games this season. The Hurricanes, who already are without captain Jordan Staal for 1-2 months because of a calf tear, recalled forward Bradly Nadeau  from Chicago of the American Hockey League on Wednesday. Carolina visits the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET; SNE, SNO, SNW, CARNHL, HHN).

New Jersey Devils

Luke Evangelista will miss his second straight game for the Devils because of an illness. The forward did not play in a 5-4 overtime win against the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday and did not take part in the morning skate Thursday prior to facing the New York Rangers on Thursday (7 p.m. ET; MSGSN2, MSG). Additionally, forward Connor Brown participated in the morning skate Thursday but remains out. Brown, injured during training camp on Sept. 28, has yet to make his season debut. "It's been a little bit of a slow process in terms of his healing and getting back to where we thought he might be," coach Sheldon Keefe said. "We thought he would be available today, but not quite there yet."
