modano split

Well, he does know a lot about hockey. And plenty about scoring goals.

Hockey Hall of Fame forward Mike Modano correctly predicted the first Minneosta Wild goal for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference First Round against the St. Louis Blues would be scored by forward Jordan Greenway.
He did so by replying to the Wild's contest prompt on social media.

Modano, of course, works as an executive advisor for the Wild, so we imagine he is not eligible for the prize. But that didn't stop him from getting it right.
Greenway scored just 39 seconds in to the Wild's 5-1 victory on Friday.
The Wild offered up a puck signed by the highest scoring American-born player in NHL history as a consolation prize.

Modano, though, took his case right to the contest's sponsor asking what he won.

The actual winner -- who must reply with the correct scorer and use the hashtag #mnwildFirst -- is chosen at random. Friday it was a Twitter user named Eric Pearson.

Congrats Eric.
And congrats Mike Modano. Although we don't think you'll be getting autographed puck anytime soon. Unless of course you just do it yourself.
