jagr letang mullet

The saying goes never meet your heroes, but that saying should go right out the window if your hero is Jaromir Jagr.

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang met Jagr, his hero since he was a youth hockey player, at Penguins practice on Saturday. Jagr participated in the team's skate a day before his number is set to be retired.

Letang couldn't resist. Not only was he sporting a full Jagr mullet, but he skated right up to the legend and told him the truth.

"I have to say something. All my life I wore 68," Letang told the legend. "No joke."

And it was no joke. The Penguins shared all of Letang's old No. 68 jerseys on social media.

"You can not do that anymore!" Jagr joked, referring to Sunday's ceremony. "That's why you got 58?"

"Obviously I was not going to take 68 here, but 58 is close enough," Letang joked.

Letang asked if Jagr would sign the jersey he will wear on Sunday, which Jagr obliged.

"Because you were my guy growing up," Letang said.

"That's why you got the hair on, huh?" Jagr joked.
