If Sweden's first game at the IIHF World Championship is any indication, it could be a good weekend for Nyquists.
Detroit Red Wings forward Gustav Nyquist scored the game-winning goal 4:06 into overtime to give Sweden a 2-1 win against Latvia on Friday in Moscow. Nyquist's goal came about 31 hours before the horse bearing his name starts in the Kentucky Derby on Saturday.
Nyquist is the morning-line favorite at 3-1 for the first race of the Triple Crown.

Among those picking Nyquist to win is Edmonton Oilers center, and horse-racing enthusiast, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. In an interview Thursday with the NHL Players' Association website, Nugent-Hopkins selected Nyquist with Exaggerator and Gun Runner finishing place and show.
The horse took to the track Friday ahead of the Kentucky Oaks, where he debuted a new blanket.
