Vladimir Tarasenko and the St. Louis Blues won Game 1 of the Western Conference Final on Sunday against Joe Pavelski and the San Jose Sharks, but the battle between Pavelski and Tarasenko in the EA SPORTS NHL 17 Cover Vote heated up as the teams made their last pushes ahead of the 3 p.m. ET voting deadline Monday.
Eight players had been selected to represent their NHL and 2016 World Cup of Hockey teams and compete to become the EA SPORTS NHL 17 cover athlete. Tarasenko is the representative from Team Russia, and Pavelski is representing Team USA.

The winner will be revealed at the 2016 NHL Awards in Las Vegas on June 22.
The Sharks got creative in the final minutes

Pavelski's grandmother sent her first tweet, and it was a vote for her grandson to grace the video game cover.

NHL17Tarasenko trended in St. Louis for much of Monday afternoon, and St. Louis Cardinals rookie outfielder Jeremy Hazelbaker was among the prominent St Louisans who were backing the Blues forward.

Actor/comedian Dave Coulier, who regularly sported a Detroit Red Wings jersey as Joey Gladstone on "Full House" and "Fuller House," took to Twitter to back Tarasenko.

Blues forward Ryan Reaves backed his teammate.

Edmonton Oilers forward Adam Cracknell, who used to play for the Blues, supported Tarasenko.
