SAN JOSE -- The San Jose Sharks scored four goals on their first five shots in a 5-2 win against the Dallas Stars at SAP Center on Sunday.
Mikkel Boedker had two goals, and Joe Pavelski and Melker Karlsson scored to build a 4-0 lead in the first period. Justin Braun scored in the second period to make it 5-0.

Boedker has four goals and an assist in his past three games and is playing arguably his best hockey since signing with the Sharks as a free agent on July 1, 2016.

"Yeah, I think that's pretty fair to say," Boedker said. "I think it's going well. Maybe the mindset of being a little more aggressive, a little more direct. I think it's paying off."
Martin Jones made 26 saves for the Sharks (32-19-8), who are in second place in the Pacific Division and moved three points ahead of the Anaheim Ducks.

The Sharks made amends for a 6-0 loss at Dallas on Jan. 31.
"It was a huge game, because of how the last game went but more importantly because of where we are in the standings and what's ahead here on our schedule," Sharks coach Peter DeBoer said. "It's a critical two points."
Stars goaltender Ben Bishop made one save on five shots and was replaced by Kari Lehtonen at 17:23 of the first period after Boedker's second goal made it 4-0.
Gemel Smith and Tyler Pitlick scored in the third period for the Stars (34-21-4), who remained tied with the St. Louis Blues for third place in the Central Division.
"They scored every chance they got," Stars defenseman Dan Hamhuis said. "Our determination level was not high enough. You could see when it was there, we took over the game. The same things are showing up and we have to find ways to get over the hump. We've got to get our game back."
Pavelski gave San Jose a 1-0 lead 27 seconds into the game when he spun clockwise and elevated a backhand from the slot past Bishop.
Karlsson made it 2-0 at 5:59 when he jammed a loose puck inside the left post.
"We were actually moving this game," Braun said. "In Dallas, everyone left their legs somewhere else, so it was good."

Boedker scored on a snap shot from the right circle at 15:08 of the first period and then scored a power-play goal at 17:23 to give the Sharks a 4-0 lead. He has 11 goals in 51 games, one more than he had in 81 games last season.
"His game is a little harder, a little simpler at times," Pavelski said of Boedker. "It looks like he's got a little confidence in himself. For him to keep shooting the puck and the way he's shooting it right now, it's big for us."
Braun extended San Jose's lead to 5-0 when he scored from the point at 5:00 of the second period.
"We kind of blinked and it was 3-0," Stars center Tyler Seguin said. "I gave Pavelski a pretty nice pass. Obviously, that's not something I want to do and it's not the way to start a road trip. We took possession of the third period and played more of our game."
Smith cut the lead to 5-1 at 5:35 of the third. Pitlick scored at 8:57.

Sharks defensemen Brent Burns and Dylan DeMelo left the game in the third period with undisclosed injuries. Burns left practice early on Saturday, and DeBoer said the same issue was bothering him.
DeBoer was asked whether he believes Burns will go on the Sharks' upcoming four-game road trip, which begins Tuesday against the St. Louis Blues.
"Yeah, I think so," DeBoer said.

"When you don't check, when you don't want to check against a good team that's ready to play, you get burned. When we get back to checking, we'll be a good team. I've had a difficult time getting them to dig in. I have to find a different way." -- Stars coach Ken Hitchcock
"We looked like we had a couple days' rest. We had great energy to start. I thought we had good legs, we were executing. I really liked us." -- Sharks coach Peter DeBoer
