The Dallas Stars will open the 2018-19 National Hockey League regular season at home on Thursday, Oct. 4 against the Arizona Coyotes. The contest kicks off a four-game homestand for the Stars to open the regular season. Dallas will then travel to Ottawa on Oct. 15 to begin the team's road portion of the schedule.

A closer look at the 82-game schedule

The Stars are scheduled to play 82 games during the 2018-19 campaign, with 41 contests at home and 41 on the road.
The majority of the team's Monday through Thursday home games are currently scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m., while in a change from previous seasons, all Friday night home contests are scheduled for 7 p.m. start times. The majority of weekend contests are also scheduled for 7 p.m. starts, however all times are subject to change to accommodate television broadcast needs when necessary.
Dallas plays in the NHL's Central Division of the Western Conference along with the Chicago Blackhawks, Colorado Avalanche, Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators, St. Louis Blues and Winnipeg Jets. They will play a total of 26 games against their division foes, with 13 games taking place at home and 13 on the road.
The home portion of the schedule features 19 weekend contests (7 Friday, 10 Saturday, 2 Sunday).
Dallas' longest homestand of the season is six games, which will take place from Jan. 12 - Feb. 1. The Stars open the homestand against the St. Louis Blues (Jan. 12), followed by the Tampa Bay Lightning (Jan. 15), the Los Angeles Kings (Jan. 17) and the Winnipeg Jets (Jan. 19). The six-game homestand continues with matchups against the Buffalo Sabres (Jan. 30) and the Minnesota Wild (Feb. 1). This season, the Stars have a five-day break without any games from Jan. 20 - 24, leading into the NHL's All-Star Break from Jan. 25 - 27.
Dallas embarks on a season-long six-game road trip from Oct. 28 - Nov. 6 with the club visiting the Detroit Red Wings (Oct. 28), before squaring off against the Montreal Canadiens (Oct. 30) and Toronto Maple Leafs (Nov. 1). The Stars then face the defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals (Nov. 3), the Boston Bruins (Nov. 5) and Columbus Blue Jackets (Nov. 6).
The Stars wrap up the road portion of the regular season on Friday, April 5 at the Chicago Blackhawks. The team will then face the Minnesota Wild at American Airlines Center on Saturday, April 6 for the regular season finale.

In total, Dallas plays 50 games against their Western Conference foes.
