"It was nice for the power play to score, first and foremost," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. "Could we shoot more pucks? We definitely can. ... But whether you get one or you get eight the goal is to win the game."
Josh Anderson and Oliver Bjorkstrand scored, and Sergei Bobrovsky made 23 saves for the Blue Jackets (3-2-0).

CBJ@TBL: Point beats Bobrovsky on short side for PPG

"We don't handle momentum swings well when they are going against us," Blue Jackets forward Nick Foligno said. "We needed something good to happen, but sometimes it's not going happen right away. We just weren't patient enough tonight to wait for it to come to us, because we had the tables turned in the second and then you see what a good team does when they smell blood."
Point gave the Lightning a 4-2 lead at 19:15 of the second period when he got the puck off a failed clearing attempt and scored from the slot. He extended the lead to 5-2 with a power-play goal at 1:40 of the third period off a pass from Miller.
"Sometimes the pucks don't go in, sometimes the goalie makes good saves on you," Point said. "But tonight, it was nice to see the puck go in. For a lot of guys, hopefully this will build confidence."
Alex Killorn made it 6-2 with a power-play goal at 7:12. Kucherov scored his first goal of the season at 13:02 to make it 7-2, and Miller scored a power-play goal at 19:59 to make it 8-2.

CBJ@TBL: Hedman cashes in on a loose puck

Victor Hedman gave Tampa Bay a 1-0 lead 1:00 into the first period when he scored on a rebound off his initial shot at the right post.
"It was a big goal to get us going," Hedman said. "Obviously, it's nice to score more goals than we did against Vancouver (4-1 loss). A lot of the goals were scored around the crease today and we had a strong effort in front of the net."
Cedric Paquette made it 2-0 at 11:17, beating Bobrovsky blocker side from the slot. Gourde extended the lead to 3-0 with the Lightning's first power-play goal of the season at 18:37.
Anderson cut it to 3-1 on a one-timer off a pass from Alex Wennberg at 8:14 of the second period. Bjorkstrand beat Vasilevskiy glove side off his own rebound to make it 3-2 at 15:51.
"It's just a kick in the teeth ... the fourth goal, as far as the bad bounce," Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella said. "We found our game, had them on their heels a bit. The fourth one hurts and then we couldn't stop their power play."

CBJ@TBL: Bjorkstrand stays with it to net a nice goal

They said it

"You're going to have bad games during the year, but it's definitely no excuse to have a bad game. We weren't good enough tonight. So we've got to learn from our mistakes and not do it again." -- Blue Jackets forward Oliver Bjorkstrand
"Anytime you score in the first ... second shift of the game ... I know the other team is looking up there and saying there's lot of time left. You're going into the game basically up 1-0 and you keep adding to it. We kind of pushed after that." -- Lightning coach Jon Cooper
