Flames, Bruins eager to get started

SHENZHEN, China -- The Calgary Flames and Boston Bruins will have some extra down time to explore Shenzhen and beyond before practicing ahead of the 2018 O.R.G. NHL China Games.
The Flames and Bruins each canceled their practice Thursday because their equipment bags are not yet at Universiade Sports Center, the site of their preseason game Saturday.
The equipment bags for each team have been held up at Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport waiting to get cleared through customs.
The Flames initially were scheduled to practice at 10 a.m. China Standard Time (10 p.m. ET Wednesday) and the Bruins at 12:30 p.m. CST (12:30 a.m. ET). That remains the schedule for Friday.
Each team has used the extra time to go through some preplanned meetings. There likely will be some off-ice workouts in the afternoon.
There is also talk of excursions around the area, with some players, coaches and team staff members talking about a potential trip to Hong Kong.
