Canadiens extend win streak to four games

MONTREAL -- Alexander Radulov had the Bell Centre crowd chanting his name after he played a role in all three Montreal Canadiens goals in a 3-1 win against the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday.
Radulov had a goal and two assists to help Montreal extend its winning streak to four games.
Brendan Gallagher deflected Radulov's one-timer from the right point on the power play past Steve Mason for his fourth goal at 13:08 of the third period, four seconds after Flyers center Sean Couturier was penalized for tripping.
Radulov, who scored into an empty net with 1:03 remaining, also set up Shea Weber's second goal of the season, which gave the Canadiens (5-0-1) a 1-0 lead in the second period.

"I don't know how to say, I got this tickle ... Yeah, goosebumps," Radulov said about the crowd's reaction. "It's a good feeling obviously. It's nice to get that from them. I said that before, it's all about the fans. If it wasn't for them, I don't think we would play. It's great that they were there for us, even when we didn't have our best today. They got us going. It was nice."
Goalie Carey Price made 31 saves to win his third straight start since missing the Canadiens' first three games because of the flu.
"I wish he had the flu again for tonight, but that's not the case," Flyers center Claude Giroux said. "He's one of the best."

Jakub Voracek scored his third goal in the second period and Mason made 30 saves in his fifth consecutive start for the Flyers (2-3-1).
"I think it was a close game overall, both teams had chances to go ahead and they were able to capitalize on a couple of bounces," Mason said. "That's the ebbs and flows of the game. They found a way to win and we didn't. We obviously need to be a little bit better there to get the two points."
Weber, who also assisted on Gallagher's goal, gave Montreal a 1-0 lead at 5:28 of the second period with a slap shot from the right point that broke Flyers forward Brayden Schenn's stick on its way past Mason.
The Flyers, who ended a three-game losing streak with a 6-3 win against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday, have allowed the first goal in five straight games.
Voracek, who had two goals and one assist Saturday, tied it 1-1 at 11:47 of the second when he deflected Giroux's wrist shot from the point past Price.
The Canadiens have won 12 straight home games in the month of October since a 2-0 loss to the San Jose Sharks on Oct. 26, 2013.

Mason shared his perspective on Gallagher's goal: "They win a faceoff there, Weber's set up for a one-timer so there's that option but he gives it right back to Radulov. He shoots it and I've got a good line on it, but Gallagher was able to get his stick on there and change the direction in front of me."

Save of the game

Price made a save on Flyers defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere's shot from the point to protect Montreal's 2-1 lead before Radulov scored his empty-net goal. "I think it just hit a shin pad right in front of me and hit my glove," Price said. "I didn't really move a whole lot, it was just one of those ones that hit me."

Highlight of the game

Weber's stick-shattering slap shot from the point probably left Schenn grateful that no part of his body got in its way. "That was a crazy one," Weber said. "It just kind of found its way in."

Unsung moment of the game

With Canadiens center Alex Galchenyuk struggling in the faceoff circle, Gallagher won a faceoff against Boyd Gordon to begin the play that led to his game-winning goal. Gordon won 10-of-12 faceoffs; Galchenyuk won 1-of-10, and Gallagher won 2-of-7.

Voracek, who leads the Flyers with eight points, has three goals and four assists during a four-game points streak. ... Philadelphia defenseman Radko Gudas completed his six-game suspension. He can return against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday, when right wing Dale Weise will sit out the final game of his three-game suspension. ... The Canadiens changed their power-play, using four forwards on the first unit, including Radulov on the point with Weber.
