Matthew-Tkachuk

The Calgary Flames filed for club-elected salary arbitration with Matthew Tkachuk on Monday.

By doing so, Tkachuk, a restricted free agent, is unable to receive an offer sheet from another team. His hearing is scheduled for Aug. 11.
The 24-year-old forward set NHL career highs in goals (42), assists (62) and points (104) in 82 games last season. He was tied for ninth in the League in goals, tied for 11th in assists, eighth in points, and fourth in plus/minus (plus-57).
Tkachuk also had 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 12 games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, when the Flames were eliminated by the Edmonton Oilers in five games in the Western Conference Second Round.

Selected by Calgary with the No. 6 pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, Tkachuk has 382 points (152 goals, 230 assists) in 431 regular-season games, and 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) in 27 playoff games.
Without the possibility of another team submitting an offer sheet, the Flames have assured that they will be able to negotiate to keep Tkachuk after forward Johnny Gaudreau, who had an NHL career-high 115 points (40 goals, 75 assists) last season, decided to leave Calgary and sign with the Columbus Blue Jackets as an unrestricted free agent on July 13.
The deadline for teams to file for salary arbitration was Monday at 5 p.m. ET. Salary arbitration hearings will be held from July 27 to Aug. 11.
