Two days after arriving in Seattle, 19-year-old makes NHL debut

The Seattle Kraken have experienced a lot of firsts during their inaugural season.
On Tuesday, the team and fans witnessed the Kraken's first-ever rookie lap.

Forward Matty Beniers made his NHL debut for the Kraken against the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome on Tuesday, but before the game, the first selection in Kraken history took the ice alone for a traditional rookie skate.

The Kraken selected Beniers with the No. 2 pick in the 2021 NHL Draft. The 19-year-old signed with the team on April 10, three days after losing in the NCAA Frozen Four semifinal round with Michigan.

Beniers led Michigan with 43 points (20 goals, 23 assists) and 10 power-play goals in 37 games as a sophomore during the 2021-22 season.
