The Avs are coming off a 5-1 victory over the Dallas Stars on Thursday to improve to 1-1-0 in exhibition play. Semyon Varlamov made 21 saves in his first game action since January, while David Warsofsky, Sven Andrighetto, Sergei Boikov, Alexander Kerfoot and Matt Duchene registered the markers against the Stars.
With Colorado playing three-in-three, all of the team's healthy players will skate in at least one game over the weekend. The Avs will meet the Wild again on Sunday in Denver before taking on the Stars in Dallas on Monday.
"We're going to split it up. There will probably be a couple guys that will play back-to-back," Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar said. "Just kind of going through our rosters here a little bit, there are a couple openings for guys fighting for positions there. Depending on how they play one night, they could be in or out the next night kind of thing. We got our veteran guys split up a little bit, so they're playing two of the three."
Avs goaltender Jonathan Bernier will make his preseason and team debut on Saturday against Minnesota and will also play in Dallas on Monday. Semyon Varlamov will play in goal on Sunday in Denver.
The Wild are 2-0-0 in the preseason after picking up two wins against the Winnipeg Jets earlier in the week. Minnesota won 1-0 on Thursday and earned a 3-2 shootout victory on Monday.
Jared Spurgeon tallied the lone tally in the game, while Alex Stalock stopped all 21 shots in the shutout.
