EDMONTON -- Leon Draisaitl scored in overtime, and goaltender Cam Talbot made 31 saves to lift the Edmonton Oilers to a 3-2 win against the Anaheim Ducks at Rogers Place on Saturday.
Draisaitl beat goalie John Gibson off a centering pass from Andrej Sekera 3:16 into the extra period to give Edmonton (14-10-2) its second straight win after a three-game losing streak.
Drake Caggiula and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored for the Oilers, and Jordan Eberle had three assists.

"It's obviously a big win for us," Draisaitl said. "The race is really tight in our conference right now. All the teams up there have the same amount of points, it feels like. Beating a team that we are up against, it's huge."

Ryan Kesler and Rickard Rakell scored, Ryan Getzlaf had two assists, and Gibson made 27 saves for the Ducks (12-8-5), who had won three straight.
Anaheim went on the power play when Edmonton was called for too many men on the ice with 44 seconds left in the third period.
"I thought we played a good game," Getzlaf said. "Their power play outplayed our power play tonight. We didn't get the job done on special teams, and that cost us the game. We had looks. There were a couple of opportunities. I don't know if we shot the puck the way we wanted to on that. We didn't execute."
Each team went 1-for-2 on the power play, but the Oilers scored right after a Ducks penalty expired.
Caggiula scored his first NHL goal with the man-advantage at 5:17 of the second period to give Edmonton a 1-0 lead.
Kesler tied the game 1-1 on the power play at 9:28 of the second. He took a pass from Getzlaf at the side of the net, spun out in front and slid the puck past Talbot.

Nugent-Hopkins gave Edmonton a 2-1 lead with his fourth goal of the season at 13:35 of the second. He took a pass from defenseman Oscar Klefbom and snapped a shot past Gibson from the right faceoff circle a second after a hooking penalty to Anaheim defenseman Josh Manson expired.
"When you have troubles putting the puck in the net, when you get one, it feels good," Nugent-Hopkins said. "It was a tight-fought battle all night. They play a tight-checking game, and we did a good job of not giving in to that and giving them too many opportunities. That was a big kill at the end for us. It was a nice way to finish it up."
Rakell tied it 2-2 at 9:42 of the third period after a shot attempt from Getzlaf bounced to him at the front of the net.
Zack Kassian had an excellent opportunity to give the Oilers the lead late in the third on a rush down the right wing, but Gibson made the save with 2:16 remaining.
"I thought we bent, but didn't break, which is a sign of maturity for us," Oilers coach Todd McLellan said. "I'm not happy with the too many men penalty. It was like we were looking for a way to give it to them. But the penalty-killing came through."

Goal of the game

Caggiula scored his first NHL goal in his eighth game. He took a cross-crease pass in the slot from Pat Maroon and shot past Gibson.

Save of the game

Talbot made an outstanding save on Jakob Silfverberg at 12:54 of the first period after the puck bounced to the Anaheim forward in the slot.

Unsung moment of the game

Corey Perry knocked the stick out of Sekera's hands while he hustled to get back onside on a Ducks rush, and then helped set up Rakell's tying goal at 9:42 of the third period.

Highlight of the game

In overtime, Sekera took the puck behind the net and centered it to Draisaitl, who shot it past Gibson with 1:44 left in the extra period.

They said it

"We missed an on opportunity when they draw a penalty for too many men on the ice with 44 seconds left. We had 1:16 left of 4-on-3 to start overtime and we did create two quality chances on it, but [Cam Talbot] made some saves blocker side." -- Ducks coach Randy Carlyle
"It was a great play by [Patrick] Maroon to have the patience to find me. I just tried to beat him to the far post, and luckily for me, he guessed the wrong way. I still can't wipe the smile off my face." -- Oilers forward Drake Caggiula on his first NHL goal
"Obviously, we had an advantage there but didn't manage to capitalize on it. They find a scoring chance, and they put it in. I think we had enough scoring chances to score more than two goals tonight."-- Ducks forward Jakob Silfverberg
