Lightning partner with PODS for Holiday Toy Drives

The Lightning, along with the Marine Corps will hold Toy Drives at AMALIE Arena on Thursday and Saturday

TAMPA BAY -The Tampa Bay Lightning is partnering with the United States Marine Corps Reserve and PODS twice this week at AMALIE Arena to host drives for the Toys for Tots program on Ford Thunder Alley prior to Bolts home games on Thursday, December 8 versus the Vancouver Canucks (7:30 p.m.) and on Saturday, December 10 against the Pittsburgh Penguins (7 p.m.). This collection will give fans the opportunity to share in the season of giving with the Lightning and bring smiles to the faces of children who are less fortunate. PODS is the official moving and storage provider of the Lightning.

Along with members of the United States Marine Corps Reserve, the Lightning will be accepting donations of new unwrapped toys on Ford Thunder Alley beginning two hours before puck-drop through game time prior to both games this week. There will be a PODS container present and donation boxes will also be located on Ford Thunder Alley. Fans donating will receive a retail coupon to be used at Tampa Bay Sports for $10 off a one-time purchase of $50 or more.

TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning honored Mary Jane Taylor as the 11th Lightning Community Hero of the 2016-17 season during the first period of tonight's game versus the Washington Capitals. Taylor, who received a $50,000 donation from the Lightning Foundation and the Lightning Community Heroes program, will donate $25,000 to Community Tampa Bay and receive a scholarship grant of $25,000 to assist in her educational pursuits.

Lightning, Chase continue Street Lightning program

TAMPA BAY -- The Tampa Bay Lightning and Chase celebrated their Street Lightning hockey program today by hosting approximately 200 students from local YMCA's to teach them hockey drills, both on and off the ice, at Ellenton Ice and Sports Complex.

Lightning alumni including Dave Andreychuk, Jassen Cullimore, Mathieu Garon, as well as Ruslan Fedotenko, and Chase executives, participated in the first event of the 2016-17 season.

    TAMPA BAY - Tampa Bay Lightning, along with their friends at Metropolitan Ministries, will be partnering for a pair of events on Wednesday in preparation for Thursday's Thanksgiving holiday.

     The day will kick off at the Metropolitan Ministries Holiday Tent, located at 905 North Governor St. in Tampa, as 20 Lightning staff will volunteer from 8:45 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The Bolts representatives will assist with client shopping, parking, wagon pulling, donation drop-offs, café operations and childcare while providing holiday meals for thousands of families throughout the Tampa Bay area. Metropolitan Ministries has an urgent need for donations of yams and/or canned beans, but all non-perishable food donations are accepted.
