A look at the game “by the numbers.”
- After getting through a first period where the Kraken were out-attempted 12-7 in 5-on-5 play, they ended the game with 51.7 percent of all shot volume in regulation. They were unable to win the shot quality battle, ending the first 60 minutes of play with 42.2 percent of 5-on-5 expected goals.
- All four of the Kraken’s lines earned a positive advantage in terms of shot volume. In terms of lines that played at least five minutes together, Matty Beniers’ line (with Jared McCann and Jordan Eberle) had a positive shot quality differential (53.64%); as did Freddy Gaudreau’s line (with Tye Kartye and Jani Nyman) which created 50.9 percent of all shot quality in 6:46 of ice time together.
- While the Kraken held fairly even with Montreal in offensive zone time (24:40 for Seattle, 24:33 for the Habs), the home team had a significant advantage in possession time in the offensive zone (+1:15 for a total of 8:01).
- Matty Beniers led all Kraken skaters in o-zone possession time with 57.
- Jani Nyman had two scoring chances off the rush and led his team in individual shot quality (all situations).
- McCann’s goal marks the first time in his career that he has started a season with three straight games with a goal in each.
- Ryan Lindgren and Freddy Gaudreau both earned their first point (an assist for each) as a members of the Seattle Kraken.
- Eleven different Kraken skaters earned at least one point.
