Grades-of-Green-Water-&-Waste-Campaigns

The LA Kings Care Foundation and Grades of Green have teamed up to challenge families to keep active, think green and have fun with the family while staying at home in response to the coronavirus.
As part of LA Kings G.O.A.L.S. program with Blue Shield of California, the #LAKingsGreen Challenge, encourages parents to work with their child(ren) to find a fun, surprising way to reuse something from home that normally gets thrown in the trash.

How the Challenge Works
The Kings Care Foundation will award the first 50 eligible participants who share their creation on social media a pair of tickets to one (1) LA Kings 2020-21 preseason home game at STAPLES Center!
To qualify, a parent or legal guardian must post a picture of their child(ren) posing with their repurposed item on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter and include the hashtag #LAKingsGreen, tag the Kings Care Foundation and Grades of Green. The challenge is open from April 8, 2020, at 10 am PDT through April 17, 2020, at 5 pm PDT.
There are plenty of ways people can make art, a toy or something useful out of items that usually get thrown away. For instance, families can turn an old shirt into a reusable grocery bag, make art out of bottle tops, cut out old magazines to make stationary or weave rugs out of an old pair of jeans. Whatever the project, it's a fun way to get the kids thinking creatively about reducing the amount of waste we send to the landfill.

About the Kings Care Foundation
The mission of Kings Care Foundation (Federal Tax ID # 95-4443065) is to support families in Los Angeles by dedicating financial and in-kind resources to services and programs.
To that end, the LA Kings Hockey Club reinvests in LA-based non-profits in the areas of wellness, sustainability, social advocacy and inclusion. Among the resources offered to the local community by the foundation, G.O.A.L.S. equips children in Los Angeles with the practical skills and tools they need to lead healthy lives and is executed with the help of Blue Shield of California.
About Grades of Green
Grades of Green is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that empowers and inspires students of all ages and backgrounds to become the environmental leaders of the future. Since its birth in Manhattan Beach, CA, 10 years ago, Grades of Green has impacted more than 600,000 students across the globe in 47 states and 27 countries.
Right now, Grades of Green's student Eco-Leaders are in the midst of the 2020 Waste Campaign - Reduce Plastics program in which student leaders launch environmentally-focused campaigns with Grades of Greens' support. When a student team joins a campaign, they are paired with a Grades of Green mentor who provides personal guidance, research and leadership coaching.
Participating student teams gain access to a speaker series featuring environmental experts, the opportunity to connect with other Grades of Green students around the world, and the chance to earn eco-grants to extend the impact of their environmental project. Grades of Green provides student teams with these services at no cost.
