DO IT AGAIN
The Jets beat the Oilers 5-2 Tuesday in Winnipeg for their fifth straight win against Edmonton going back to last seasons playoffs. The Oilers two goals came on the power play in the third period and according to Natural Stat Trick, Winnipeg did a great job containing Edmonton's superstars at five-on-five. Even when Dave Tippett reunited Connor McDavid with Leon Draisaitl midway through the game, the dynamic duo only generated two high danger scoring chances. The Jets forwards along with Josh Morrissey, Nate Schmidt, Neal Pionk and Brendan Dillon kept a lot of the play to the outside. Now that the Oilers are back on home ice and get last change we will see if the Jets can replicate some of their success tonight.
"For the most part, kind of keeping their superstars to the outside," said Adam Lowry following practice on Wednesday.
"Really eliminating their chances. It starts with the skating, starts with the commitment to the defensive side of the puck."

HELLEBUYCK OUTSTANDING
It didn't take long for the Jets number one goaltender to get rolling again after missing a few games. He outplayed Edmonton's Mikko Koskinen on Tuesday night and whenever the Oilers got a good look, he closed the door. His glove saves on Tyson Barrie in the second period with Jesse Puljujarvi providing the screen was highlight reel material. In the third period, with Edmonton trying to make it a one goal game with just over five minutes remaining, Hellebuyck robbed Puljujarvi with a left pad save. The 2020 Vezina Trophy winner will need to continue his strong play in Edmonton this evening.
BIG STAN
Logan Stanley had back-to-back tough games during the Jets seven game home stand. But since being on the ice for the tying goal against St. Louis over a week ago, Stanley has put together two solid performances. He is doing a great job moving his feet again and that has helped him in both the defensive and offensive ends of the rink. He has three assists in the last two games and looks to continue that solid trend Thursday at Rogers Place.
EHLERS GOING AGAIN
Something about Edmonton brings out the best in Nikolaj Ehlers. Jets fans will never forget his overtime winner in game 3 of their playoff series with the Oilers as he ripped a quick wrist shot over the glove of Mike Smith. Fast forward to Tuesday night and the Jets forward blasted a slap shot over the glove of Koskinen in almost the same spot he scored the OT winner six months ago. Ehlers skated well with Mark Scheifele and Andrew Copp and looked more like the dashing Dane we saw earlier in the season.
MORE NEEDED FROM OILERS BOTTOM 6
Edmonton returns home after a 2-3 road trip looking for more from their bottom six forward group. Being down 3-0 at the halfway mark of the second period saw Tippett go to Draisaitl and McDavid a lot over the final 30 minutes on Tuesday. The Oilers added some new faces up front hoping for some help for their superstars but as of today not a single one of the nine different players who have been in the bottom six forward group have a positive goal differential at five-on-five. Edmonton will be hoping to avoid having McDavid, Draisaitl and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins playing more than 20 minutes.
