When will hockey be played during the Winter Olympics?
The Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 will be held from Feb. 6-22 in Milan, Italy. The Men's Ice Hockey portion of the event begins on Feb. 11 and ends with the Gold Medal Game on Feb. 22.

The Carolina Hurricanes will be well-represented at the Olympic Winter Games, with five players competing:
- Canada: Seth Jarvis
- Finland: Sebastian Aho
- Denmark: Frederik Andersen & Nikolaj Ehlers
- United States: Jaccob Slavin
How can I watch the games?
In the U.S., all games can be streamed through Peacock ($) and NBCOlympics.com (with TV provider sign-in).

What is the hockey tournament format during the Winter Olympics?
The 12 teams are broken into three groups and will play a round robin within their group (teams with Hurricanes players in bold):
- Group A: Canada, Czechia, France, Switzerland
- Group B: Italy, Finland, Slovakia, Sweden
- Group C: Denmark, Germany, Latvia, United States
Teams will earn 3 points for a regulation win, 2 points for an OT/SO win and 1 point for an OT/SO loss. After the round robin, the 12 games will be seeded based on the following criteria:
- Higher position in the group
- Higher number of points
- Better goal differential
- Higher number of goals scored
- Better 2020 IIHF World Ranking
The top four teams receive a bye into the quarterfinals. The teams ranked 5-12 will play in the qualification playoff games with the following matchups: 5 vs 12, 6 vs 11, 7 vs 10, 8 vs 9
