About the Event

Skate with the Canes is one of the most interactive, all-access, behind-the-scenes, player-friendly events that the Carolina Hurricanes organization offers each year. It is a special Kids 'N Community Foundation fundraising event that allows fans and players to interact in an intimate environment by rotating through autographs, locker room photos and skating sessions in small groups of 200.

All proceeds from Skate with the Canes will benefit the Carolina Hurricanes Kids 'N Community Foundation, which provides much needed funding to children's charities and education programs throughout North Carolina. During the 2015-16 season, the Kids 'N Community Foundation donated $575,000 to 27 difference North Carolina children's non-profit organizations.

The $75 ticket includes all the activities listed on this page, a 25 oz. Kids 'N Community Foundation aluminum bottle, a poster and food and beverage.

What to Expect

Each group will interact with a different set of players at each session (up to eight at each session). As an example, you may be in an autograph session with Jeff Skinner, take a photo with Victor Rask or skate with Justin Faulk. All of the players are divided into groups which rotate as well to ensure each group sees each player.

Each session is strictly dedicated to its title. This system ensures you will be able to see all the players but it does not ensure you additional photos or autographs outside of your player group in the designated photo/autograph session you are assigned.

What to Bring

  • You are encouraged to bring your own skates, but we will have skates for those who do not have them. Please note we will try to accommodate all size requests, but to ensure a true fit it is best to bring your personal skates.
  • Camera for locker room photos. We will have photographers that will take photos for you using your personal camera.
  • A book bag is a great idea to keep all your personal belongings safe and close at hand while you are at the event.
  • Don't forget your ticket! All who enter PNC Arena must have a ticket. All children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult, and both the child and adult must have tickets. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Additional Event Features

  • Stormy and the Pepsi Storm Squad
  • Visits from Canes alumni (based on availability)
  • Inflatables and games

Station Breakdown: Autograph Session

This station will allow you to meet and receive autographs from six to eight players (depends on final group size). The autograph session gives you the opportunity to be inches away from the players and say hello.

Station Breakdown: Locker Room

Experience a true NHL locker room where access is usually off-limits. Guests will be able to see all portions of the locker room and the behind-the-scenes aspects usually only reserved for the players and coaches. As you walk through the locker room, there will be two chances to take photos with members of the Canes. The first photo opportunity will include sitting down in the player's stalls with members of the team and the second will be a special scene.

Station Breakdown: On Ice

The on-ice section will be divided into multiple areas, each featuring Hurricanes players.

  • Skating Only Zone: Skate where the players skate! The Skating Only Zone does not permit lines or areas of standing in an attempt to allow people to skate freely and enjoy the high-quality NHL ice.
  • Hockey Activity Zone: Practice your hockey skills and get coached through some drills.
  • "Get Social" Stations: Get an awesome Snapchat selfie or the perfect picture for your Instagram on the bench, in the penalty box (with special decorations) or at the faceoff circle.

In an effort to make the experience safe and enjoyable, no extra items (including hockey sticks, posters and other memorabilia) will be allowed on the ice and no autographs will be permitted. If you are not wearing skates, you will not be allowed on the ice. There will be access to the bench and seats in the arena bowl for those who do not wish to skate.
