The Vegas Golden Knights (3-0-0) captured their third consecutive victory on home ice with a 4-2 win against the Arizona Coyotes (1-1-1) on Monday night at T-Mobile Arena.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
Arizona opened the scoring midway through the first period when Tyler Pitlick found the back of the net for a shorthanded goal. Nick Schmaltz added to the lead at 9:35 of the second with a power-play strike to make it 2-0 Coyotes. A late second-period goal from Max Pacioretty brought Vegas to within one as the teams geared up for the final frame. Reilly Smith struck 4:11 into the third period to level the score before a shot ricocheted off Chandler Stephenson and in to give the Golden Knights a 3-2 edge. Smith added an empty-net goal to lock up the victory at 4-2.

TOP PERFORMERS
Reilly Smith:Smith's pair of goals were his first two of the 2020-21 season.
Chandler Stephenson: Stephenson registered two points (1G, 1A) in the victory.
Max Pacioretty: Pacioretty's third goal in as many games got Vegas on the board.
Mark Stone: Stone's assist on Stephenson's goal marked his team-leading fifth point. It also gives him three consecutive games with an assist on the game-winning goal.
STAT OF THE KNIGHT
With the win, Robin Lehner improved to 5-0-0 all-time in regular season play as a Golden Knight. Lehner made 30 saves for the victory.
