Workman joined the Golden Knights as an amateur scout in the fall of 2016 after most recently serving as associate head coach of Robert Morris University.
Workman began his tenure as an assistant coach at Robert Morris in 2009 and remained on the staff through the end of the 2015-16 season, spending his final three years at RMU as associate head coach.
During Workman's tenure at Robert Morris, the Colonials reached their first NCAA tournament, winning the Atlantic Hockey postseason championship in 2014.

Mark Jonathan Workman, age 47, of Apple Valley, MN passed away February 14, 2018 after a short and courageous battle with cancer.
Mark "Worky" was born May 4, 1970, in Brainerd, MN. He was the loving son of Gary Workman and Marlene de Boef.
Mark was a 1988 graduate of Stillwater High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Sports and Recreational Management from St. Scholastica Duluth in 1993.
He dedicated his life to hockey; starting as a Mite in Youth Hockey eventually becoming the Captain of the St. Scholastica hockey team.
Mark then went on to turn his passion for hockey into a 25-year career. He was Head Coach at St Scholastica, Assistant Coach at Brown University, Associate Head Coach at Robert Morris University and Amateur Scout for NHL Vegas Golden Knights. He coached numerous USA hockey and MN Model camps.
Mark is survived by his father Gary Workman (Joanne), his mother Marlene Sparschu de Boef (Jelle), brother Eric Workman, niece and goddaughter Morgan Workman, Michelle Workman, Uncle Gary Sparschu, cousins Carmen, Brenda, Jayne, Sara, Petur and their families, goddaughter Anna Schaefer, and many other friends and family.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Amelia (Hensler) and Gustav Sparschu, Lula (Emeigh) and Carmen Workman, and Uncle Carmen Workman Jr.
Mark's celebration of life will be April 14, 2018 in the Twin Cities metro area. Additional information to follow.
