The last week of June is normally busy for NHL general managers.
And they only have to prepare to select players for one draft: the NHL Entry Draft.
George McPhee and the Golden Knights, meanwhile have to prepare for two drafts.
This week.
While Wednesday's Expansion Draft at T-Mobile Arena has received a lion's share of the attention due to it involving veteran NHL names, the Entry Draft is every bit, if not more important to the team's long-term success.

As a new team, of course, the Golden Knights aren't in a position to take either draft for granted. This is why as the world braces for who Vegas selects from each of the NHL's other 30 teams, McPhee's staff has been pulling double duty at the team's suburban Summerlin headquarters.

This weekend's Entry Draft in Chicago, after all, is now just four days away.
"We've got another office in there preparing for the Entry Draft," McPhee said We're doing most of the expansion stuff during the day and at the end of the day, when everybody's tuckered out, then we go in and deal with the amateur stuff.
"We're in a good place. We're really well-prepared for it, and as you know, we've had an entire year to prepare for both of these drafts, and we are prepared and organized and that's why I feel a little more relaxed up here than I anticipated I would be at this time, but we are in a good place."
