If there's ever a hockey player that feeds off the fanbase, it's P.K. Subban. The energy pumps through his veins.
So things will be a bit different as he sets out to start the 2020-21 NHL season with the absence of fans in arenas.
"I did think about it," PK shared during Media Day, "I probably thought about it more when the game came back this summer after the stoppage and I got to watch the playoffs. I thought about it more then, how difficult it would be."
But then there's another factor. PK and the Devils have not played an NHL game in nearly 10 months. It's unfortunate that fans won't be in the building, but Subban has no doubt all fans will be behind them.
"With so much excitement, just to be back at work and excited to see my teammates and back doing what I do, and that's play hockey, that's enough excitement for me. But nothing is ever going to ever be like playing at Prudential Center with our fans. We have an extremely loyal fan base here in New Jersey, so it definitely sucks not to be able to be in front of them, but we know that they're with us. They're going to be watching all the games and supporting us from afar."
TRAINING CAMP: Subban on No Fans
Subban's excitement to play hockey again mitigates the disappointment of the absence of fans for the start of the season
