BOSTON, MA - Scott Wedgewood turned in a masterful performance, stopping all 40 shots he faced -- and the Devils needed him to -- on the way to a 1-0 Devils win over the Bruins.
Kyle Palmieri scored late in the third period to break what was a 0-0 deadlock for much of the night.

The Devils fly to D.C. where they'll face the Washington Capitals on Tuesday. You can watch on MSG+ and listen on the Devils Hockey Network,
including right here at NewJerseyDevils.com.
Game time is 7:08 PM ET.
"It feels awesome," said the Devils goal scorer Kyle Palmieri after the game. "After this past week, we took the opportunity this morning to really examine our game individaully and as a team. Sometimes there's games over that homestand where we played well and deserved a better or closer result but the game yesterday afternoon was a bit of a low point for us as a whole.
"As a group, we can be really proud of our effort tonight."
Scott Wedgewood turned aside 40 shots for his second shutout of the season in only five starts.
"We have been on the bad side of things for a bit here. We kept it to the outside most of the night. It was a gutsy 1-0 win. We found a way to score. It wasn't pretty but that's what you need to win those tight games," Wedgewood began.
"We wanted to turn the tides. The last couple of weeks weren't our best. This was my role being three with potentially Crow and Blackie. You get some games and always want more. I've been sticking with things with my time out of the lineup."
Devils head coach Lindy Ruff said that Wedgewood's play was outstanding tonight.
"There's two things," he began. "He played the puck well. He's really good at creating comfort on the dump-ins because he's back there playing pucks. Once he got in a rhythm, he just looks comfortable and that spreads from the goal out."
Ruff added that the entire team effort was really what counted today, however.
"I talked about the foundation. The foundation of our team has to be how well we play away from the puck. How hard we work away from the puck. That's what was missing, especially the second game against the Rangers."
Urho Vaakanainen took the game's first penalty just over seven minutes in, sending the Devils to the power play.
Shots on goal were 7-5 for the Bruins just past the period's midway point.
Chris Wagner was called for tripping, to send the Devils on their second power play of the game with 6:26 to go in the first. Bruins killed it off; Shots in the period were then 10-7 for Boston.
After one, shots on goal were 12-10 for the Bruins.
Rask kicked out his left pad to deny Pavel Zacha on a breakaway deke attempt just five minutes into the middle frame.
Jake DeBrusk took a penalty, sending the Devils to the power play for the third time in the game midway through the period.
Devils had one shot on goal during the power play. Shots in the period 11 minutes in were 4-3 for the Devils with 8:39 to go.
Wedgewood slid across to deny David Pastrnak with a blocker save on what was the best scoring chance of the game so far late in the second.
In the final two minutes, it looked like Jack Hughes had scored but it was immediately waved off due to a hand pass by Jesper Bratt.
After two, shots on goal were 22-19 for the Bruins.
Devils had some extended zone time, pinning the Bruins in their zone for nearly a minute, but unable to register a shot on goal.
Dmitry Kulikov cross-checked Brad Marchand, getting a penalty and sending the Bruins to their first power play of the game.
Mikhail Maltsev yanked on Bjork, sending the Bruins to the power play for the second time on the game several minutes after the last kill but Devils were able to kill that one off as well.
With 4:37 to go in the third, Pavel Zacha picked up a loose puck and Kyle Palmieri tipped it past a fallen Rask to put the Devils in front by one and that's how the game would end.
"If you look at the good opportunities we missed or didn't score on, if you look at that play, Kyle set himself up as the netfront guy. He didn't leave the netfront," Ruff stated. "The puck is probably going wide if he isn't there. We got a little puck luck, we haven't had a lot of it. If more players go there or around there, more goals will start going in.
"I want to see guys skating, competing, playing fast."
