Mackenzie Blackwood started in his first NHL matchup, stopping 36 out of 38 shots faced (.947%). Blackwood became only the sixth NHL goaltender to face a penalty shot in his first NHL start (credit: NHL stats). It was also the first penalty shot against New Jersey since 11/5/17 where Keith Kinkaid denied M. Ferland of Calgary.
Sergei Bobrovsky played in 60 minutes in the first contest, allowing one goals on 30 shots faced.
