One of the most coveted players in the NHL is a right-handed defenseman. Add to that great size, durability and offensive talent, and you get Czechian blueliner David Jiricek. The draft prospect is 6-foot-3, 189 pounds. He's also pretty mobile for a player of his stature. Jiricek can also throw his body around in the physical game.
Jiricek is very active on the offensive side of the puck, pinching into plays in the O zone and looking for chances to join the rush. He has a monster of a slapshot, and his breakout passes can fuel a transition game. One area of his game that needs maturing is his reads and decision making on when to be aggressive and when to back off. That should come with age and experience.
