T.J. Oshie Selected to Participate in 2020 NHL All-Star Game in St. Louis

Capitals forward T.J. Oshie has been selected to participate in the 2020 NHL All-Star Game through the NHL All-Star Last Man In fan vote presented by Adidas, the NHL announced today. The game will be played at Enterprise Center in St. Louis on Saturday, January 25.

This marks Oshie's first career All-Star selection. He becomes the 16th forward in franchise history to be named to an All-Star game. This season, the Everett, Washington, native ranks third on the Capitals with 18 goals (Alex Ovechkin: 26 goals; Jakub Vrana: 19) and is sixth on the team in points (33). Oshie leads the Capitals with 13 points recorded in the final 10 minutes of games and overtime, including three game-tying goals with an extra attacker and two minutes or less left in regulation. In addition, Oshie leads the team with 12 goals at home and ranks second with seven power play goals (Ovechkin: nine).

Since joining the Capitals in 2015-16, Oshie ranks second on the team with 120 goals (Ovechkin: 209) and 40 power play goals (Ovechkin: 80). He is one of only 21 players in the NHL with at least 120 goals and 40 power play goals during that span. Oshie's 17.5 shooting percentage (120 goals on 686 shots) ranks fifth in the NHL among players with at least 200 games played since the 2015-16 season.
Oshie returns to St. Louis, where he started his NHL career in 2008. Selected by the Blues in the first round, 24th overall, in the 2005 NHL Draft, Oshie played in 443 games for St. Louis, recording 310 points (110g, 200a). From 2008-15, Oshie ranked first on the Blues in assists (200) and second in points (David Backes: 361 points). He's one of 17 players in the Blues' franchise history to record at least 200 assists and 300 points.

In 779 career games, Oshie has recorded 551 points (230g, 321a). He is one of 49 active players with at least 200 goals, 300 assists and 700 games. Among active players with at least 500 points, Oshie's 0.71 points per game rank is tied for 37th in the NHL.
Oshie joins defenseman John Carlson and goaltender Braden Holtby as the Capitals' representatives at the 2020 NHL All-Star Game. It marks the second time in franchise history the Capitals have had at least three players participate in the All-Star Game (1984-85: four players). Additionally, Capitals head coach Todd Reirden will coach the Metropolitan Division team at the All-Star Game. Reirden was selected after the Capitals finished with the highest points percentage (points earned divided by total possible points) through games played Thursday, Jan. 2 - the halfway point of the regular season.
