The Washington Capitals have signed forward Boone Jenner to a four-year, $23 million contract, senior vice president and general manager Chris Patrick announced today. Jenner’s contract will carry an average annual value of $5.75 million.

Jenner, 33, recorded 38 points (13g, 25a) in 67 games with the Columbus Blue Jackets last season. Jenner’s 38 points ranked fifth on Columbus, while his 34 even-strength points matched a single-season career high. Jenner, who served as Columbus’ captain for each of the last five seasons, led the Blue Jackets in faceoff win percentage (52.6%), ranked second in hits (147) and first among the team’s forwards in blocked shots (66).

The 6’2”, 204-pound forward recorded three-straight 20-goal seasons from 2021-22 to 2023-24 and registered a career-high 49 points (30g, 19a) in 2015-16. Jenner, a 2024 NHL All-Star, has posted a faceoff win percentage above 52 percent in eight of the last 10 seasons and has won at least 50 percent of his draws in each of the last 11 campaigns. Jenner is just one of six players in the NHL with 200-plus goals and 1,800-plus hits since 2013-14, along with Alex Ovechkin, Tom Wilson, Brady Tkachuk, Vincent Trocheck and Brayden Schenn.

Jenner, Columbus’ all-time leader in games played, has recorded 421 points (212g, 209a) in 808 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets. In 37 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, Jenner has registered 15 points (8g, 7a). Columbus selected Jenner in the second round (37th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.

In 2025-26, Jenner was named the Blue Jackets Community MVP and nominated for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy and the King Clancy Memorial Trophy.
