Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Canucks will celebrate Black History Month, presented by Budweiser, at their upcoming home game on February 24th against the Calgary Flames. The Canucks are proud to work with the Black Business Association of BC (BBABC) to showcase local Black-owned businesses and organizations on the arena concourses.

Black History Month is part of Hockey Is for Everyone, a joint NHL and NHLPA initiative celebrating diversity and inclusion in hockey. Many clubs across the league celebrate with game nights that honour and celebrate Black excellence in the community. Vancouver's Black History Month game is an opportunity to learn, share and celebrate the experiences, contributions, and accomplishments of Black Canadians and their communities.
The Canucks are honoured to work with Jason Bempong, creative director of local clothing brand Sleepless Mindz, to design this year's Black History themed jersey. After being worn by players during warmups, Black History Month jerseys will be available for auction at

Additionally, to support impactful work in the community, a $20,000 donation will be made to the BCBHAS on behalf of the Canucks for Kids Fund. BCBHAS is a registered charity whose purpose is to provide resources that document, educate and spread awareness of past, present and future achievements of BC's Black community members.
Budweiser has partnered with the Hockey Diversity Alliance (HDA) in support of its ongoing mission to eradicate racism and ignorance in hockey, both on and off the ice, with a specific and simple call to action to #TapeOutHate. Budweiser created a physical roll of hockey tape, featuring words of solidarity and a clear call to action to fight against bigotry and intolerance. $1 from every roll of tape goes towards supporting the HDA, to learn more visit
