Plekanec Jerabek Martinsen

PARIS - The Czech Republic defeated Norway 1-0 in overtime on Thursday in the first game featuring the two teams in the preliminary round of the World Hockey Championship.

The game marked the first meeting of the tournament between Habs players Andreas Martinsen, of Norway, and the Czech Republic's Tomas Plekanec and Jakub Jerabek.
Jan Kovar scored 1:25 into overtime to give the win to the Czech Republic. Jerabek assisted on the goal, and was a plus-1 with one shot on net in 16:57 of ice time. Plekanec had three shots on net and an even differential in 17:01 of playing time, but was scoreless in the game.
Meanwhile, Martinsen was held off the scoresheet, had an even differential and no shots on net and recorded a time of ice of 16:25.
The Czech Republic play Slovenia tomorrow, while Norway has a day off before facing Finland on Saturday.
