BostonBruins.com - David Pastrnak didn't do anything different on October 14.
Despite the B's first matinee of the young season, the winger followed his routine, starting the day with a simple breakfast of eggs and pancakes.
"I felt good after breakfast," said Pastrnak. "Afternoon games are fun. I like to just wake up and go play. No time for thinking. No time to overthink stuff. You just wake up, go out there and play."
Boy, did he play.

Pastrnak, who entered the contest with two goals in five games, set the tone for his MVP-caliber campaign with a career-high four goals in the Bruins' 4-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks at TD Garden.
It was a dominant performance, one that has become commonplace for the 23-year-old this season, during which he has racked up 48 goals, tied with Washington Capitals winger Alex Ovechkin for the league lead.
"I'm just trying to be a better player than last year, that's my biggest focus every year, coming into the season," said Pastrnak, who also registered his sixth career hat trick (five regular season, one playoffs). "Obviously, I want to be a little bit better than the year before and that's what I'm working on."
Mission accomplished.

Notable Quotes

Pastrnak on his four-goal game:"I mean, it's always nice [to score]. That's what I'm getting paid for."
Brad Marchand on Pastrnak:"He's such a talented player, he's dangerous on every play. Regardless of where he is and where he gets the puck you've got to make sure you do your job on him, because if not he'll find himself in a scoring position."
Patrice Bergeron on Pastrnak:"I don't take it for granted, I definitely appreciate it. It's pretty special. He's got that talent and the instinct. He wants to be a difference maker and he gets to the dirty areas. It's not always easy to get to the net and he does, he finds a way. It's pretty impressive."
