The Boston Bruins announced today that the team has signed forward Matt Poitras to a one-year, two-way contract extension through the 2026-27 season with an NHL cap hit of $850,000.
Poitras appeared in 69 AHL games with the Providence Bruins during the 2025-26 season, recording 13 goals and 31 assists for 44 points. The 5-foot-11, 189-pound forward finished tied for third among Providence skaters in assists and fifth in points, while tying for the team lead with six power-play goals.
Poitras recorded a season-high seven-game point streak from March 14-28, 2026, totaling 10 points during the stretch, including two multi-point games. He has skated in 109 career AHL games, all with Providence, totaling 30 goals and 55 assists for 85 points.
The 22-year-old also played in three NHL games with Boston in 2025-26, scoring one goal. Poitras has appeared in 69 career NHL games, all with Boston, recording seven goals and 20 assists for 27 points.
The Whitby, Ontario native was originally selected by Boston in the second round (54th overall) of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
