After taking it to the Toronto Maple Leafs for much of the game, the Blue Jackets would like another crack at them after their two-goal lead turned into a 4-2 loss north of the border on Monday.
Fortunately for the Blue Jackets (12-7-2) the schedule-maker obliged, and the teams will meet again Friday at Nationwide Arena.
"That's always the best part when you play the team you just played in a couple of days," Blue Jackets forward Josh Anderson said. "We'll look at some video and see what's wrong and correct it for the next game."

The Blue Jackets left Scotiabank Arena frustrated that a 5-0-2 streak ended on some defensive breakdowns that the Maple Leafs (15-6-0) capitalized on to extend their winning streak to five.
Zach Hyman scored the go-ahead goal with 4:22 left in regulation, then added an empty-netter with 61 seconds left to leave Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella steaming.
On the winner, Toronto forced an icing by the Blue Jackets' fourth line of center Riley Nash and wingers Markus Hannikainen and Lukas Sedlak.
The Maple Leafs sent their top line over the boards and Hyman won the draw against Nash to John Tavares, who got the puck back to defenseman Morgan Rielly at the point for a shot that the unchecked Hyman redirected in front.
"Dumb coverage. It's pee-wee coverage," Tortorella said. "We played well enough to win and to not get a point out of it off just a simple coverage on the faceoff, it just pisses you off. It's dumb."

Torts describes his frustration at simple mistakes

The Blue Jackets lost despite a decided advantage in the play.
Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 22 of 25 shots for the Blue Jackets but allowed more than one goal for the first time in five starts.
Frederik Anderson made 37 saves to stymie the Blue Jackets.
"Bob kept us in the whole game, but we just couldn't get it past Andersen," Blue Jackets center Pierre-Luc Dubois said.

Dubois comments on eliminating mistakes

Cam Atkinson scored for the fifth straight game and had an assist, and Dubois had a goal and an assist when the Blue Jackets took a 2-0 lead in the first period.

Tyler Ennis and Tavares tied it for the Maple Leafs in the second period.
"First period we dominated," Atkinson said. "Second period they kind of dominated. Third period it was going both way. … It was a bad faceoff. Just a standard faceoff where kind of lost. Guys were not in the right position."
Atkinson gave the Blue Jackets the 1-0 lead at 14:39 of the first. Dubois centered him from the right wall and Atkinson fired a one-motion shot from the left circle for his 13th goal.
Dubois scored his 10th with 50 second left in the first by outworking Jake Gardiner and Nikita Zaitsev along the right wall. He slid the puck to Artemi Panarin, who found Atkinson in the slot. As he worked toward the net, Atkinson lost the puck and Dubois was there to swoop in and score.
Atkinson has 11 points (seven goals, four assists) in a five-game point streak. Dubois has nine points (four goals, five assists) also in a five-game point streak.
"I'm putting myself in positions. That's plain and simple," Atkinson said. "My line mates are making good passes and I'm burying them."
Ennis made it 2-1 at 13:01 of the second.
Anderson had a chance to restore the two-goal lead 2 ½ minutes later but his break was denied by Andersen.
The Maple Leafs then tied it 2-2 at 17:20 when on a breakout, Mitchell Marner deked his way around Scott Harrington for shot. The rebound came out front and Tavares bodied Zach Werenski for the rebound to score his 13th goal.
"It's a soft goal," Tortorella said. "Marner makes a good move on Harry, Harry recovers and then he's soft on Marner - and Z's soft on Tavares. It's just simply getting outworked off the puck."
Andersen frustrated Anderson again with just over seven minutes left in the third with consecutive saves to keep the game tied.
"We played a good road game for the most part," Anderson said. "Both teams were back-and-forth and had chances. Obviously, they came up with that big goal with four minutes to goal to win the hockey game."
Put the whistle away
The game was the first in Blue Jackets history where neither team had a penalty. It's the 102nd time that's happened in the NHL.
