Two Points on Tuesday

Scott Wedgewood stopped all 32 shots he faced and Samuel Girard scored the game's lone goal as the Avalanche defeated the Utah Mammoth 1-0 at Ball Arena on Tuesday to extend the team's home win streak to 13 games.

"My mind was in it from the get-go," Wedgewood said. "Got off to a pretty hot start and [Utah is] a team that makes you think."

Tuesday's game marked Wedgewood's second shutout of the season and fourth with the Avalanche.

"He was the best player on the ice for either team," Avalanche Head Coach Jared Bednar said about Wedgewood. "There's no question."

With its sixth-consecutive victory, the Avalanche improved to 27-2-7.

"Full team effort tonight," Gabriel Landeskog said. "I thought it wasn’t necessarily pretty, but we got it done and I think that’s important. It’s going to be important the rest of the year as well, finding ways to win. It’s not always going to be pretty, you’ve got to be comfortable in these one-goal games.”

How It Happened

The Avs opened the scoring at 7:57 of the middle frame when Girard scored his second goal of the season via a backhand shot from the doorstep on a partial breakaway. With that goal, Girard has six points (2g/4a) in his last six games.
