Scoring in Seattle

Nathan MacKinnon scored twice and added a primary assist to help the Avalanche defeat the Seattle Kraken 5-3 at Climate Pledge Arena on Tuesday. Artturi Lehkonen, Samuel Girard and Brock Nelson all added tallies for Colorado while Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 34 of the 37 shots he faced in net.

With the win, the Avalanche improved to 24-2-7.

How It Happened

Lehkonen opened the scoring at 12:19 of the first period with his 13th goal of the season via a redirect from the slot on Martin Necas' shot.

The Kraken tied the game when Shane Wright scored at 3:03 of the second period via a shot from the left doorstep.

Jordan Eberle gave Seattle a 2-1 lead at 5:48 of the middle frame with a backhand shot from the doorstep.

At 13:29 of the second period, Girard tied the game with his first goal of the season via a one-timer from the top of the right circle.

The Kraken took a 3-2 lead at 19:24 of the second period when Chandler Stephenson scored a power-play goal after his pass deflected into the Avs' net.

MacKinnon tied the game with his 27th goal of the season at 2:40 of the third period via a left-circle one-timer that deflected off Kraken defenseman Adam Larsson and in.

At 7:49 of the third period, Eberle had a penalty shot with a chance to give the Kraken a lead, but he wasn't able to score.

The Avs took a 4-3 lead on the power play at 8:25 of the third peridowhen Nelson scored his 13th goal of the season with a shot from below the right circle.

MacKinnon doubled Colorado's lead at 19:36 of the third period with his second goal of the game and 28th of the season via an empty-net tally from above the left circle.
