Picked Up a Point

The Avalanche lost 3-2 in a shootout to the Dallas Stars at Ball Arena on Wednesday. Gabriel Landeskog and Brock Nelson scored for Colorado while Nazem Kadri posted two assists. In net for Colorado, Scott Wedgewood stopped 20 of the 22 shots he faced.

"I thought it was a great effort from [Wedgewood] again tonight," Avalanche Head Coach Jared Bednar said. "He makes a huge save in overtime, and gives us a chance in the shootout. He had other big saves at key times, as well."

How It Happened

Colorado thought it opened the scoring at 1:55 of the first period when Jaden Schwartz scored, but the goal was taken off the board after a successful Dallas challenge for offside.

At 8:29 of the first period, Wedgewood kept the Stars off the board with a save on Arttu Hyry's right-slot shot off the rush.

The Avalanche scored a goal that was disallowed for the second time in the game at 9:29 of the first period when it was ruled that Landeskog used a distinct kicking motion to put the puck in the net.

Wedgewood kept the game goalless at 4:04 with a save on Tyler Seguin's turnaround shot from the right circle.

At 4:55 of the middle period, Landeskog scored his second goal of the season via a net-front deflection on Nazem Kadri's left-circle feed after Sam Malinski began the play with an offensive-zone interception.

Miro Heiskanen tied the game for Dallas at 15:03 of the second period via a left-circle shot.

The Stars took a 2-1 lead at 1:20 of the third period when Hyry scored a shorthanded breakaway goal.

Nelson tied the game at 8:21 of the final frame with his third goal of the season via a shot from the left doorstep after picking up the loose puck created by Lehkonen's one-timer that was blocked.

In the shootout, Jason Robertson scored in the first round and Kadri tallied in the second round before Roope Hintz tallied the winner in the fourth round.
